AGEnda (AGE north down & ards) provides a range of FREE confidential services for older people in Ards and North Down.

AGEnda can take referrals from other services, family members and self-referrals. Once referred a staff member will arrange for a telephone conversation to discuss the service in more detail.

Good Morning Call

The Good Morning Call is a free confidential service available to all residents of Ards and North Down Borough Council area who are of 65 years of age and over.The service provides check in calls ensuring clients’ well-being and safety.  The calls take place Monday to Friday from 9.15am-11.00am with a minimum of two calls a week delivered by one of AGEnda’s trained volunteers.

Good Morning Call:

  • Allows clients to remain independent in their own homes.
  • Enables them to talk to a friendly voice.
  • Gives family members peace of mind knowing that we are checking in with their loved ones.

AGEnda provides a 24/7 answering machine where clients can leave a message should they not be in for their call.

Floating Support Service

The Floating Support Service is a service that provides short term advice and help to make it easier for clients to maintain their independence at home and in the community. AGEnda promote good health, wealth and wellbeing.

Floating Support provides:

  • Support for clients to live independently and to reduce social isolation.
  • Connection to the local community.
  • Signposting and referrals to other agencies e.g. Occupational Health, Home Safety Team.
  • Support through Person Centred Plans for up to two years.

AGEnda’s Floating Support Service is funded by Supporting People and is available to people aged sixty five and over, in the North Down and Ards area.

There is 1.08 full time equivalent staff within the service providing a total of 40 hours front line support.

Floating Support promotes the latest national and local strategies e.g. The Housing Executive Homelessness Strategy 2022-27: Ending Homelessness Together and Ards and North Down Borough Council: The Big Plan for creating positive outcomes for everyone 2017 – 2032.

Support & Signposting

The Support and Signposting Service allows people to email or phone to speak to a member of staff. You can request information and guidance on a wide range of topics or issues.

Support and Signposting:

  • Gives information on local activities, hobbies, groups and events.
  • Promotes health, wellbeing and personal safety.
  • Offers referrals to other appropriate services.
  • Researches the internet on a person’s behalf.

Carers Support Service

The Carers Support Service offers support to Carers & the Cared for Person through workshops, activities and social events. This could be a family member, neighbour, or friend that you spend time with, offer emotional or practical support to. This person does not have to live with you.

We support carers to:

  • Improve their mental health and wellbeing.
  • Connect with other carers experiencing similar situations.
  • Build networks, offer peer support and access of support services.
  • Engage in social activities and have time for themselves.
